Ray Nkonyeni Municipality has applied to the High Court for permission to demolish an abandoned property in Marine Drive, Ramsgate.

This is according to the municipality’s spokesman, Simon April, who was responding to the article in last week’s Herald about the derelict property about which several complains had been received.
Residents in the area had complained about illegal activities taking place inside the property and had pointed out that they feared for their safety.
According to Mr April, the property – Lot 2471 Marine Drive, Ramsgate – is one of many in Trafalgar, Marina Beach and other areas which had been abandoned by their owners.
The owners had reportedly been traced and told numerous times to refurbish their property, but had failed to do so.
