One of the biggest events was the Ugu Jazz Arts Festival hosted by Cyassound Holdings, which pulled off a spectacular event despite many hiccups during the preceding weeks, as Ugu Municipality ditched the project at the 11th hour.

The much-loved festival lasted for three days starting with last Friday’s pre-party at Senzi’s Lounge in Margate followed by the main event at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre last Saturday and a picnic on Sunday.

Buyi Shabane and Thembi Kupiso were delighted to be at the Ugu Jazz Arts Festival.

Jazz lovers from around the province, ferrying gazebos, blankets, braai-stands, cooler boxes and camp chairs, flocked to watch some of SA’s biggest names in the music industry perform during these events.

Mlindo the Vocalist, who has taken the music industry by storm, said he had been delighted to perform for his local fans and his parents, who had an opportunity to watch his live performance.

Artist Natz Efx wowed the crowd with his exquisite saxophone skills.

Although not many big artists were in the line-up, jazz fans reckoned those who were there did an amazing job of entertaining patrons.

Nolwazi Mnguni, a business owner from Umsinga who attended the jazz festival with her friends said the event was well organised and scheduled times had been well kept.

Jazz and Afro soul artist Sisanda Nilsson proved just why local is lekker, she is pictured with local resident Siya Sotsu.

“It was a great experience for us, especially because there were other music genres and deejays to entertain us throughout the night. It was different and exciting, I will definitely come back next year,” she said.
