Various detectives, sergeants and staff received awards for their hard work and going the extra mile to ensure their communities were safe and criminals were brought to book.
While youth leaders were given funding on the night, local leaders and organisations who excelled in their respective work fields were also honoured.

According to RNM mayor Cynthia Mqwebu, the awards are aimed at recognising the efforts of ordinary men and women who give their time and resources to provide a better life to those less privileged than themselves.

“These individuals and organisations play a vital role alongside government in improving the circumstances of many who are marginalised and remain on the fringes of our thriving society,” the mayor said.
The mayor encouraged the awardees to take advantage of opportunities offered by various government departments such as Social Development, to access funding and other resources which, she said, were made available.

Winners in the sports category, Xolisile Matsala and renowned South African cricket player, Andile Phehlukwayo, were quite excited about being recognised by their local mayor for their efforts.
A rocking live brass band entertained guests for the entire evening.
