KwaZulu-Natal is renowned for its famous and beautiful beaches. However, healthy oceans are critically important to marine life and to coastal communities whose economies rely on tourism, fishing and recreational activities. Opening up new offshore areas to drilling, risks permanent damage to our oceans and beaches.
The South Durban Community Environmental Alliance and groundWork is hosting an Oil and Gas awareness workshop in Port Shepstone to highlight and inform affected people and interest groups on the impacts and dangers of offshore oil and gas drilling along the coast of KZN. This workshop will also highlight the progress made thus far and inform interested and affected parties of what action to take.
The meeting will be held as follows:
Date: 10 July 2018
Starting Time: 10:30 am
Venue: Marburg Library (1 Protea Rd, Grosvenor, Port Shepstone)
