JUST IN: Abandoned baby found alive in Port Shepstone

When the officer was about to leave he heard a faint cry again and trace it to the bushes in the backyard of another neighbour.

A new born baby boy was found alive in the bush last night by Kerwin  Dicken, a reaction unit officer from Lazer 911.

He was informed by Lazer’s control room that a client had phoned in and reported a faint cry, believed to be a cat or a baby, in the dense bushes.

He was directed to the client’s house and did a full search in the bushes with the client and came up with nothing.

When the officer was about to leave he heard a faint cry again and trace it to the bushes in the backyard of another neighbour.

They approached the neighbour and did a search of his yard and traced it to the bushes at the back of his house, where he discovered a new born baby still with its umbilical cord.

Officer Dicken quickly wrapped the baby up and jumped into his van and got the client to drive him to the hospital.

The baby was handed to causality in stable condition and police informed.
