Truck driver dies near Sezela Mill

The driver is said to have lost control of the truck in Sezela on Monday morning, July 23 at 10am when it overturned onto Mill Road.

The driver of an articulated truck, Sphiwe Josias Hlalela (36) of the Free State, lost control of the truck in Sezela on Monday morning at 10am and it overturned onto Mill Road.

“Mr Hlalela was trapped in the truck and rescue personnel of the Umdoni Fire and Rescue used the jaws of life to extricate him from the wreckage,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.

It was found that he had sustained fatal head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Sergeants Sindi Shabalala and Sane Simelane of the Scottburgh Saps arrived at the scene and a case of culpable homicide was registered for investigation.
