Wild Coast Sun donates computers to local NPO

In addition, the NPO received 20 desks, 30 chairs and water and electricity.

As part of uplifting communities, the Wild Coast Sun recently offered support to a non-profit organisation which provides basic computer training skills to people in the Amadiba community.

Mzamba Skills Development received two rooms with 20 desks, 30 chairs and 20 computers from the WCS to ensure their facility would be able to serve more people.

In addition, the WCS provided water and electricity to the facility as well as security to ensure it remained safe.

According to a statement from WCS, the skills centre was started by four young men who had made it their mission to train local people when they realised that people in the poorer, rural communities did not have access to nearby training facilities, nor could they afford to travel to education facilities.

“With lack of computer skills and few job opportunities available, the community was stuck in a cycle of unemployment, high crime and drug abuse,” reads the statement.

Recognising their plight, the WCS intervened.

WCS PR and promotions coordinator Mawande Genu said they were delighted to have been able to assist with upgrading the training centre and equipping it with more computers.

“Education has long been a focus of our corporate social investment efforts because it addresses poverty and unemployment in our community. When people are empowered with skills that enable them to become active contributors to the economy and generate an income for themselves, it helps to stop the cycle of marginalisation and poverty that exists in South African society.”
