This International Practical Shooting Confederation event is held every third year in Africa and most of the participants pay their own costs.

“The team braved the extreme cold weather but thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience – the camaraderie, the high standard of the competition and the lovely mix of people from other countries,” said police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge.

A total of 379 entrants, from as far afield as Russia, the Czech Republic, America, Australia and Taiwan, as well as Zimbabwe and Namibia, took part in the championships.

It was also the first time in nine years that the Saps National Team entered and the first time that a woman was included in the competition.

KwaZulu-Natal had the most members from a single province in the team.
