Still no water bills, despite Ugu’s promises

Ugu spokesman, France Zama said the municipality was aware that some consumers had not received their monthly accounts.

Ugu District Municipality’s billing problems seem to be continuing unabated, with numerous people reportedly again not having received accounts in July.

This has led to serious questions being asked about why the municipality had still not addressed this issue, as it had promised in May it would.

“I used to receive my account without any problems, but for the past six months I have had to run back and forth trying to get my bill so I could pay,” said one frustrated Shelly Beach resident.

Ugu spokesman, France Zama said the municipality was aware that some consumers had not received their monthly accounts, which he ascribed to the entity’s billing system ‘being synchronised to the new financial year’.

“We are anticipating that all municipal accounts will be ready to reach customers before the end of the week,” he said.

Mr Zama added that customers could request a balance telephonically by contacting the Ugu Call Centre at 0800092837 or (039) 688 5830/36, or alternatively, pay an average monthly sum in the interim.
