Eskom Expo for Young Scientists 2018 finals kick off

Pupils compete for a chance to represent their region and province at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists International Science Fair.

On August 16th, scholars from Grade 6 to 12 from schools all around Southern KZN will take part in the annual Eskom Expo for Young Scientists Regional Finals.

Pupils compete for a chance to represent their region and province at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists International Science Fair held annually at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre in Boksburg. They also stand of winning coveted prizes such as bursaries and scholarships, mobile science kits and even the chance to represent South Africa at other prestigious international science fairs.

The event will be held at the Umzinto Town Hall and the public are invited to meet the bright and innovative scholars during Public Viewing time from 1pm and entrance is free.

Scholars submit their projects in one of 24 categories including Innovation and Technology, Energy, Health care and Sports Science, Plant sciences, Microbiology or Engineering. Entrants present a poster, journal and scientific report. During the judging process several judges interview the scholars.

The judges and committee members  are volunteers giving their time to promote scientific innovation in scholars from Southern KZN and the KZN province as a whole.
