Tweni Talk: Harassment of domestic workers continues
Rather collect and drop off staff at the Abingdon Spar complex.
DOMESTIC workers are being harassed walking to and from work, even on weekends. Wherever possible, rather collect and drop off staff at the Abingdon Spar complex. Don’t forget to report any suspicious behaviour to the Law Enforcement Control Room at 039 6825555 – ask for an OB number.

Keep eyes peeled
Feedback from the CPF meeting is that there was a slight spike in criminal activity last month. Remember to be vigilant at all times. Don’t leave personal property outside your house, vehicles unlocked (even in your yard overnight) or garage doors and gates open – it leads to opportunists taking advantage.
Marcel on the mend
The Muddy Boots market was fabulous as always and now that Johan Braak is organising it, there was a full house of traders.
Remember this market happens on the first Sunday of every month, except for January, so if you would like to book a spot, please contact him at 081 8184203.
Glenda and Marcel Schutgens were just two of the many people who supported the market and it was an absolute pleasure to see Marcel up and about.
He is still sporting some injuries, but is at least able to walk. Marcel and I have threatened to do some serious injury to the driver who carelessly hit him and then left the scene when we find out who the culprit is.
Back home
Zelna Olivier reports that hubby André is feeling much better now and is back home.
Birdwatchers’ delight
Ria Hackland says ‘It’s that time of year when our backyard looks like a scene from ‘The Birds’ (1963 movie produced and directed by Alfred Hitchcock) with no fewer than 18 beautiful hornbills sitting in the tree’.
Happy occasions
Birthdays this week: Deborah Berry (6th), Gordon Dickson (7th), Robert Harley (11th), Marlene Bergsma and Dianne Prepok (12th) and Sharlene Vahey and Janette Grobler on August 13th. Congratulations to all.
August already! And yes, the wind has started. Here on the hill in Tweni, there’s a sneaky wind that whistles around corners – forcing you out into the sunshine. Have a wonderful week and may life treat you with respect. All news to Leila.
