General knowledge put to the test at South Coast Herald quiz night

The South African-themed questions were both interesting and challenging.

With winter in full swing, a pub quiz night offers a fun way to stay entertained after dark. That’s exactly what transpired at the South African themed pub quiz night at Port Shepstone Country Club last Saturday.

Whether you were new to the idea of quiz nights, or an old hand at this hugely entertaining battle of the minds, there were difficult questions, easy questions and some very tricky questions – not entirely unexpectedly as the quizmaster was the humorous Herald branch manager, Bevis Fairbrother.

Testing their brain power are Port Shepstone Lions (from left) Martin Rundle, Alistair Warman, Craig Curnow and Gary Baker.

Stephen Goodhead of the winning team, ‘Port Shepstone Squared Team’ said that it was a most enjoyable evening of good food, great camaraderie and general knowledge.

Quizmaster Bevis Fairbrother chats to Carrie Pieterse.

“As always, the emphasis was on having fun and sharing a few laughs.”

Ready to answer questions are (from left) Debi Stewart, Kim Strauss, Alison van der Merwe, Yzelle Greyling and Cecelia Verster.

Second place went to the South Coast Herald team and third place to the ProVision team. The brainy bunch won wonderful prizes.
