Women’s Day fun runners were in the pink

The organisation is grateful for the continued support given by the local community.

Child Welfare Port Shepstone Women’s Day Fun Run at St Mike’s beach was filled with a bevy of pink runners. Young and old, the runners and walkers turned out in their numbers to support Child Welfare’s fund-raiser against women and child abuse.

Child Welfare fund-raising manager Sam Podmore told the Herald that the organisation was grateful for the continued support given by the local community. “Child Protection is everyone’s business and it is only together that we can make the difference day after day,” explained Ms Podmore.

“Sadly we are seeing more and more children and women being abused, physically, emotionally and sexually. This has to stop and we need to speak out together against these heinous crimes.”

The first male runner home was Mbongeni Ngeleka and the first woman was Zandile Dunwa.
