Umzintovale Primary pupil heads for KZN provincial spelling bee

Fahad Patel was this year's champion speller at district level.

Yet another pupil from Umzintovale Primary, Fahad Patel, has outdone himself after flying through the district level for this year’s KZN Department of Basic Education Spelling Bee.

Fahad, a pupil in grade 6, was this year’s champion speller.

Last year, the school congratulated two pupils, Krithika and Jhanvi Devnarain, who had made it through to provincials and a 2016 participant, Sarika Singh, who had placed first in provincials.

Krithika went on to place second at last year’s national level.

One of the teachers at the school, Monica Sunker, had helped the pupils prepare for the spelling bee well in advance to ensure that they give their all on the day.

Fahad now prepares himself to represent the Ugu District at the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial level DBE Spelling Bee which will take place in September.
