Fun market

Stallholders from Mtwalume are eagerly waiting to welcome you to the spring flea and craft market to be held alongside the swimming pool at Koelwaters Resort on Saturday, September 8, from 9am onwards. Tables will as usual be free of charge – contact Sue Paterson at 039 9721425 or 082 4002616. Be sure to attend – there are lots of unusual items on sale and food to try. Join in and spend a lovely relaxing morning. Hopefully it will be a splendid spring day and you could walk away with bargains galore.

Cater at the fair

Regarding Hibberdene’s annual spring fair to be held in the town hall on Friday, October 5th and Saturday 6th, an important development is that the whole kitchen area and the area leading to the entrance to the hall will be available for hire.

This area would prove a huge bonus to any person or organisation wanting to provide teas or meals throughout the day.

The kitchen is well-equipped and in a prime spot and any enquiries about bookings should be addressed to Marie at 082 2935757.

Costs are R30 per day, but preferably R60 for the full two days.

Clinic bookings

August’s eye clinic was cancelled due to too few bookings having been made, but September’s will take place on Wednesday (19th) from noon onwards and bookings may be made with your scribe at the supplied number or at 073 1653961.

The ‘missing in the postal strike’ glasses which were sent off from Benoni on July 4 eventually arrived in Hibberdene on August 17 and apologies are extended to all those who had to wait for several weeks.

Thank you

A well-attended wake for John Paul was held at the Jolly Roger Fun Pub on Monday of this week and thanks go to all who took the trouble to attend and pay their last respects to him.

Thoughts and prayers

Connie Olwage is recovering in Hibiscus Private Hospital after suffering a nasty fall recently.

Connie was not aware she had suffered a fractured rib which punctured a lung, causing internal bleeding, and it was only when the excruciating pain forced her to seek treatment that the diagnosis was made and she was admitted to hospital.

She is wished well, as are Lindy Gumley and Theresa Ngwabe, both due to undergo surgery shortly. Barry Jones has also been readmitted to hospital and Richard O’Neill is also in need of your thoughts and prayers.

Happy birthday

Only two birthdays recorded for this week – those of Barney Viviers (23rd) and Sandra Smith-Endicott on August 28.

Remember to keep Lizzie busy with Hibberdene news and snippets.
