June Myers, chairman of Bendigo Residents’ and Ratepayers’ Association, points to the depot which is in a shocking state.

The state of the depot in Southport as well as several other issues will be on the agenda for discussion.

Chairman of BRRASS, June Myers, who is passionate and committed to the well-being of her neighbourhood and surrounding suburbs. met with the Herald at the shabby depot in Ocean Drive North on Monday this week.

The Herald has written about the depot on several occasions, but Monday’s meeting revealed that very little had changed since its first report, back in 2016.

“I have emails from the municipality dating back three or four years in which they promised to fix the depot, but nothing has changed.

“It’s still a filthy mess and it should be moved out of the residential area,” said Mrs Myers.

She pointed out that the depot is the responsibility of three departments; roads, cleansing and recycling.

It is in a shambles, with rubbish and debris piled up, even outside the gates.

However, Mrs Myers did have words of praise for Mr Khumalo who, she said, together with his team, was doing a wonderful job of cleaning and cutting the overgrown verges in Ocean Drive North.

The Herald is awaiting a response from Ray Nkonyeni Municipality spokesman, Simon April.
