A lot was achieved. The group completed the building of the new volleyball/basketball court and the newly erected shadehouse for vegetable planting.

The freshly-laid concrete from NPC was painted with court lines and new basketball/volleyball poles were inserted into the ground.

Shelly Beach Lions donated the sporting equipment and great fun was had by all, as the balls started bouncing and volleying across the court.

“Over 250 volunteers from the community, staff of NPC Intercement, Shelly Beach Lions and Child Welfare Port Shepstone came together to give of their time and skills on this Day of Doing Good,” said Sam Podmore, volunteer from Child Welfare.

“It was amazing to see, in just a few days, how a community working together with local business and service clubs, can transform dry ground into a fantastic playing and sports court for many generations of children to come. Thank you to all the volunteers, NPC and Shelly Beach Lions for making this change an inspiring reality,” she continued.

After the hard work was complete, everyone was treated to a wonderful braai and great fun was had on the court.
