Sunday Sessions help clean up Sandspit

Every bit of trash removed and properly disposed of helps save our environment.

Sunday Sessions last Saturday involved a beach clean-up at Sandspit in Port Shepstone. Although attendance was poor, there were drinks and a small breakfast braai for all who showed up. They also stood a chance to win some great prizes. Music was provided.

Andrew Lange, who spearheaded the clean-up, told the Herald that our ocean ecosystem could not protect us unless it was healthy and resilient. “Harmful things, like trash, pollution, climate change, and habitat destruction are taking their toll. But the good news is that many concerned people from the South Coast are slowly starting a sea change by joining together to clean up.”

He added that trash didn’t fall from the sky, it fell from people’s hands. “With these regular Sunday Sessions, everyone has an opportunity to make a difference.”
