Sheppie Snippets: Hindus to observe holy prayer
Most temples on the South Coast will observe Sri Ganesh Chaturti today (Thursday).
Many Hindus will observe Sri Ganesh Chaturti this Thursday, September 13.
Lord Ganesha is one of the most popular and widely worshipped deities of Hinduism.
The Umbango Sri Siva Soobramanior Alayam invites everyone to its annual Ganesha Chaturthi prayer this Thursday. Hawan will start at 6pm, followed by a special service dedicated to Lord Ganesha, All devotees who wish to bring their Ganesha murthies for prayer and offerings are most welcome. Supper will be served.

Port Shepstone Tamil Association will host its Ganesha prayer at 6pm. All are welcome and supper will be served.

Navaratri Committee
The Hibiscus Coast Navaratri Committee will once again host Shastriji Ramshusheel Chaturvedi at the Arya Samaj Hall from October 10 to 18. Daily recitations of the full 13 chapters of the Durga Saptashati together with the Maha Yajna will commence at 6pm on weekdays and at 3pm at weekends. Kirtan and pachras of Devi Maa will be conducted by Vikesh Moonilal, and an informative discourse on Navaratri will be presented by a special guest in attendance, Shameen Thakur Rajbansi, on Saturday October 13. A prayer will be performed by senior citizens on Sunday October 14 and all senior devotees are welcome to attend. Saraswati prayers will be performed by the youth on Tuesday, October 16 and all youth are welcome to bring their books for blessing. Kanya pooja will take place the next day on October 17, followed by the Sahastra Archana (offering of 108 roses to Mother Durga) on Thursday, October 18 and concluding with a Visarjan at the Block in Port Shepstone at noon on Friday, October 19. Spring fair
