Grade 5 pupils celebrate Arbor Day with a special song.
Port Shepstone Primary School welcomed spring by celebrating Arbor Day on 7 September 2018. Pupils and teachers hosted an exciting programme of songs, poetry and educational presentations.
The guest speaker, Pastor Reggie John, who has pioneered the Hope Park project, highlighted to learners the significance of Arbor Day and the importance of trees in our lives.
Planting a tree with Pastor Reggie John are Thabile Mncwabe, Kuhle Ngcobo, Melokuhle Sishi and Kyle Davids together with principal, Sathananda Naidu.
Pastor John also participated in a tree planting ceremony. The Foundation phase pupils took part in a colouring in competition while Grade 7 pupils made items out of waste material.
Displaying their artwork from recycled materials are (Standing) Jordan Gcaba, Okhule Mzotho, Amanda Mavundla, Viandra Kistasamy, ( Seated ) Tiatus Naidoo and Phiwokuhle Mdubo
All items produced were put on display in the school library together with a bonsai and orchid display.
Port Shepstone Primary school is extremely proud of Thandokazi Cebisa who participated in the Umbango River Conservancy Spellathon.
She won the Grade 3 Category and received a cash prize and a trophy for her outstanding achievement.

Fundiswa Mzobe works as a journalist covering various beats. She started her Caxton career with Ugu Eyethu more than 10 years ago, then went on to work as a digital assistant on the Herald website. She has now progressed to being an out-and-out reporter, with a particular focus on council, crime and political issues. Before that she worked as a radio journalist for a short period of time.
