Many hands make light work of coastal clean-up

All who worked hard to clean up the coastline were thanked.

Umbango River Conservancy’s ‘Big Clean-up,’ held to coincide with International Coastal Clean-up Day last Saturday, was well-supported.

An enthusiastic group of volunteers gave up their morning to pick up litter, starting from ‘The Block’ in Port Shepstone and finishing at the Mbango River in Oslo Beach.

Morgan Naidoo of the conservancy said beaches in any part of the world are tourist attractions.

“The sea, as an environment, is home to countless creatures and pollution harms these forms of life.

“Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to help clean up the coastline.”

The conservancy also acknowledged the efforts of other organisations and individuals who took part in beach clean-up projects.

He added that more beach clean-ups would be held in future.
