Wheels of good fortune turn for Scottburgh car guard Goodman

Recently, Goodman was issued a fine of R100 for not having a bell on his bicycle and just days later had his bicycle stolen.

After a series of unfortunate events, Goodman Madlala, a car guard at Scottburgh beach, finally got his happy ending.

Recently, Goodman was issued a fine of R100 by an Umdoni Protection Services officer for not having a bell on his bicycle.

Through the help of a bystander, his fine was cancelled at the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court but, unfortunately, his bicycle was stolen later that week.

Many locals sympathised with Goodman as they referred to him as kind and good-hearted person who shouldn’t have had to face such misfortune. Many people questioned why he was fined for having a ‘bell-less’ bicycle and expressed their thoughts on the matter via social media.

This then caught the interest of several people who wished to help Goodman.

A handful of people, including a bicycle business, provided Goodman with something much needed – a brand new bicycle, with a bell!

They even put together a goodie bag with other bicycle accessories and, of course, a chain to prevent this one from being stolen while he carried out his duties on the beach.

Goodman was more than grateful to everyone that contributed towards his new wheels and he again has transport to and from work.
