Local IFP elects new leaders
Corruption, land issues, lack of job opportunities and the 2019 national elections all form part of the local IFP's plans.
The IFP in the Ugu District held its elective conference at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre last Sunday.
Sifundo Ngwane who, according to IFP members, was well experienced in both the government and private sectors, was elected as the new chairman.

Mr Ngwane expressed his delight at his election and said he, together with IFP members, had ‘big plans for the party’.
Corruption, land issues, lack of job opportunities and the 2019 national elections all form part of the local IFP’s plans.
During the conference, the IFP said it planned on working towards unity, mobilising support for next year’s election, and its growth.
“The IFP will continue working on the land expropriation without compensation issue by fighting for the use of unused government land first before any other land is expropriated,” said Mr Ngwane.

The party, he said, also planned to fight corruption in both the private and public sectors.
IFP member of the provincial legislature, Hassan Motala, said the IFP planned to do well both in next year’s elections, and in the next Ugu District local government elections.
“We want a united IFP,” Mr Motala said.
Other leaders elected were Ntombifuthi Mngadi (deputy chairman), Mpilo Mteshana (secretary), Sbo Duma (deputy secretary), Tikka Ally (treasurer), Ntompela Mazubane and Bhekithemba Ngcobo (co-deputy treasurers).
