Fun run swells Shelly Beach Lions’ coffers

The club held its very first charity fun run on Heritage Day.

Shelly Beach Lions Club held its first charity fun run on Heritage Day (Monday). The event started and finished at St Mike’s Beach. Although the weather was a bit gloomy, overall it attracted a good field.

Shelly Beach Lions public relations director Johann Bentley said the club was delighted to hold an event that gave family and friends an opportunity to get active and enjoy a scenic run with beautiful views of our coast, while at the same time raising funds for the organisation.

Putting their best foot forward for a good cause are are (back, from left) Kirsty Kirtley, Diane Saunders and Lynne Brittan with Dale Brittan in front.

“Proceeds will go to the Shelly Beach Lions’ various community projects, including diabetes testing, child and youth programmes, and food parcel support.

“With the 10th anniversary of our club being marked this year, we are proud to continue our work in the community. We are looking forward to making this charity fun run another community success for many year to come,” explained Lion Johann.

The lucky winner of the Harbourview SuperSpar raffle hamper was Caitlyn Ramos. Daniel Franseconi and Samantha Reina won prizes for being the first man and woman across the finish line.
