New owner of Hibberdene SuperSpar is warmly welcomed
The new owner has been warmly welcomed by the store’s staff and shoppers.
The new owner of Hibberdene SuperSpar, Selwyn Govender, was welcomed with much fanfare at a function held at the store on Wednesday last week.

Mr Govender pointed out that shoppers should feel quite at home when visiting his store, as he said, the same staff will be waiting to serve their old friends.
He has been bowled over by the warm welcome he has received from staff, shoppers and the community at large. “This sort of cooperative community is exactly what I’ve been looking for!
“And I have no doubt that we can raise the bar for the people of Hibberdene who have been so loyal to this store over the years.”
With a background in the textile industry, Mr Govender explained that the most rewarding part of his job as the new SuperSpar store owner was being able to make a difference in so many people’s lives.
“It can be something as simple as explaining to a customer how to choose a good product on the shelf, or ensuring that they can find any item at any time of the day. It can be chatting with a pensioner who comes to the store a couple of times a day because he or she is lonely, or congratulating an employee on a great job they’ve done and seeing their face light up.”
Belinda Barlow (retail operations manager of Spar KZN) congratulated Mr Govender on acquiring the store.
“Spar is a family brand and we welcome Selwyn to our family. I know that he has the passion and drive that the group needs and I have absolute faith that he is going to make the brand in this area a force to be reckoned with.”
