The culprits have been warned to refrain from illegal connections and tampering with electricity supply as this forces the municipality and honest residents to subsidise this stolen electricity.

“If you are guilty of electricity tampering, we encourage you to approach the municipality within the next three months in order for an agreement to be reached on individual settlements.”

After the three-month period has lapsed, the municipality has vowed to act harshly toward all culprits who have failed to come forward voluntarily, and they will face hefty fines as well as legal consequences.

Illegal connections can be reported to the RNM Customer Care Line at 039 6882027, by email to services@rnm.gov.za, by SMS to 32061 (R1 per SMS) or contact the electrical department at 039 6882015.
