Well done to all those involved in the successful wheelchair handover to a child in Umdoni’s Ward 8 Nkombo. This was done last week; mobility, hope and dignity were restored to seven-year-old Sipho’esihle Mthembu. This initiative was made possible through a DA partnership with Alpha Pharmacies.
DA PR councillor Zama Miya of Umdoni Municipality is grateful for the compassion and commitment to making a meaningful difference.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to move freely, attend school, play with friends, and participate fully in everyday life. This wheelchair is more than just a donation – it is a gift of independence and a brighter future.”
Brendan Allison from Alpha Pharmacy Pennington said the community’s support means so much more than simply helping the pharmacy grow, as it allows them to give back through community outreach initiatives, such as donating wheelchairs to those in need and assisting where funding is limited.
The Scottburgh NG Kerk golf day was held at Umdoni Golf Course recently. Eighty players participated in the Betterball competition for prizes in excess of R30 000. Every player who finished received a prize on the day. Almost R20 000 was raised during the prize-giving auction. The church thanks all players who entered as well as all sponsors and organisers.
The winners were Nicholas Ramkissoon and Nivash Mahabeer. Herman Grotius and Shaun Jenkins came second and received prizes from the event coordinator, Johan Barnard.
Reminder: a Scottburgh Saps CPF special general meeting will be held at the Curtis Hall at the Blue Marlin Hotel this Thursday (13th), from 16:00. The purpose of the meeting is to fill vacant positions of the CPF station executive. The public is urged to attend to strengthen the CPF and Saps to curb crime.
