The camera has been strategically positioned with a ‘bird’s eye view’ around the school to monitor vehicles, children arriving or leaving, and suspicious activities.
Fidelity ADT’s community development manager, Rian Buys, reminds parents of the importance of teaching children simple safety precautions like:
* Walking to or from school in groups and never taking shortcuts through deserted areas;
* Never to carry cellphones and iPads in full view;
* Waiting inside school grounds for lifts;
* Never getting into a stranger’s car and using a password system when someone else is delegated;
* Never to talk to strangers;
* Memorising physical details, clothing, names and vehicle registrations if approached by a stranger, and
* Knowing their own full names, address, phone number and how to dial 10111.
