Sheppie High debaters place third in the country

The team had to tackle the topic from a political perspective.

PSHS pupils Fathima Docrat, Lethokuhle Khumalo, Sanelisiwe Mbhele, Luyanda Shinga and Phumelela Shozi represented the province at the South African Agency for Science and Technology (SAASTA) debating finals held at the National Research Foundation in Pretoria on October 2.

Schools representing their provinces were given the question ‘Can the investment of public resources in mega science projects such as the SKA prepare South Africa and Africa for the fourth industrial revolution and contribute to the eradication of poverty and substantial development in the country and continent?’

The team had to tackle the topic from a political perspective and placed third in South Africa.

Every year thousands of children across SA and Namibia receive a shoebox filled with gifts from Santa Shoebox donors.

Sheppie High contributed 131 of the 669 boxes pledged and received from the South Coast area. The boxes are distributed to underprivileged children on the South Coast.
