Ms Mqwebu said the municipality’s development planning services recently revealed statistical trends indicating that over the past four years, the airport experienced its heaviest traffic over the December/January holiday period.

“For this reason CemAir has decided to schedule an extra flight to OR Tambo International. The schedule will run from December 7 to January 13. During this period, there will be a flight departing from Margate airport every day at 11.10am and another at 5pm.”

The mayor said the municipality welcomed this development and is confident that it will have a positive spin-off for tourism and the economic development of the South Coast.
