Some 30 women, most of whom are unemployed, attend sewing lessons and gain sewing skills with the church’s outreach programme under the guidance of volunteers each year.
The delighted women said this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because they could now support their families through sewing.

Thembelihle Qwabe, who completed her second-year course, said she was excited about her achievement and hoped the skills she had gained would open new opportunities for her.
“I can now make my own skirt, blouse, jacket, dress and various household items, thanks to the lessons we have received.”
