Paddlers hone their skills in new kayak range

Organisers were pleased with the event and level of participation.

One could hardly imagine a more beautiful or accommodating setting than Ramsgate lagoon for last Saturday’s kayak demonstration.

A number of paddlers and beachgoers were given the opportunity to try out Vagabond Kayaks’ new range as well as to hone their kayaking skills.

Organiser Marius du Preez said he was pleased with the level of participation and attendance on the day.

“And on the positive side, while Saturday’s excellent weather turned the kayak water demo conditions to ‘sporty,’ it did provide paddlers with an opportunity really to test equipment,” he said.

“No outdoor activity that I am aware of, has so many factions and strong points of view as kayaking. Once someone has a great experience in a canoe or kayak, if they can make the boat go where they want it to, if they feel the addictive glide of hull on water, you’ve hooked a paddler.”
