Music show was a sell-out success

Robin's music over the years has evolved from the pop-rock sound of his early recordings to the contemporary mix of blues and roots that makes his sound today.

Talented musician Robin Auld serenaded South Coasters last Friday night with hits dating back to the 1980s.

Based in Cape Town, Robin tours home and abroad, performing both solo acoustic shows and electric gigs.

On Friday, Robin teamed up with accomplished violinist, Ant Cawthorn-Blazeby.

Chatting to the Herald, Robin said it was good to be back on the coast, as he had last played in Margate in the 1980s, and then at The Rock in Umzumbe, a few years ago.

“It’s a nice part of the world to visit. Beautiful beaches, weather is warm and the people are friendly,” he added.

Many will recall those sing-along hits like ‘All of Woman’, ‘Love Kills’, ‘All the Girls Cried’ and… ‘Baby you been Good’ – which went to number eight on the Springbok charts.

Robin’s music over the years has evolved from the pop-rock sound of his early recordings to the contemporary mix of blues and roots that makes his sound today.

He has released more that 20 albums, with several radio hits in South Africa, including a number one.

Event organiser, Hayley Maisch, said Robin’s show was sold out, and it was a great evening.

She added that music lovers can next month expect performances by Veranda Panda and Wren and Faye.
