Plucky three-legged Jozi needs a home

She is a beautiful, brave, friendly and intelligent dog, despite her her disability.

There is a very special dog named ‘Jozi’ who is looking for a forever home.

In February this year, Penny Taylor and Renate Haussmann of Harmony Hill Rescue sent out a request for help to put Jozi into a wheeled cart after the dog’s leg was amputated.

Enough money was raised, thanks to many kind-hearted individuals, and Jozi was given new wheels, custom-made and imported from the United States.

Jozi is a beautiful, brave, friendly and intelligent dog. Penny describes her as a ‘ray of sunshine’ who, despite her disability, loves life and everyone (including animals) around her.

However, Penny believes that Jozi now needs to go to a good and stable home.

“I have done everything I can for Jozi. She now needs to spend time in a loving home environment and not living in a kennel. I don’t believe the right life for her is at Harmony Hill.”

Jozi is brilliant in her cart and can manoeuvre it almost anywhere, but she needs a flat garden and can’t do stairs.

“She needs someone who will be patient and has a real understanding of a dog with a disability,” said Penny.

Harmony Hill Rescue has some 70 cats, seven puppies and 10 dogs looking for forever homes.

Two special dogs, Odie and Heritage, were recently rescued by Harmony Hill Rescue.

Heritage was found on Heritage Day, living off scraps at a dumpsite at Marina Beach.

She was starving, dehydrated and had devastating mange.

Her teeth are destroyed, but despite the abuse heaped on her she is a friendly little soul. Penny has been treating her chronic skin condition (yeast infection).

Odie, who was dying of starvation and mange, was found living in a sugarcane field.

She too, is being treated and is living a good life at Harmony Hill.

Harmony Hill is thanked for recently helping to trap and sterilise feral cats that had made a home at the South Coast Herald offices.
