Tree of Light shines brightly

Entertainment included a nativity play and carol singing.

Love, care and concern for those afflicted with a terminal disease, a memory of someone special, even a precious pet which has passed away – this is what South Coast Hospice’s Tree of Light represents.

The tree was officially switched on at Southcoast Mall’s food court last Saturday.

South Coast Hospice fund-raising coordinator ‘BT’ King said the Tree of Light ceremony was an opportunity for the public to let the light shine for the month of December as family and friends gathered around the shimmering tree, sang carols and enjoyed quality time with those nearest and dearest to them.

“Entertainment included a nativity play and carol singing by Tiny Town Play Centre and performances by the Margate Pipes and Drums band. The Tree of Light, a shining beacon of love and remembrance, is a tradition celebrated annually by hospices all over the world. Through the support of the community, hospice is able to bring palliative care and dignity to many.”

South Coast Hospice was touched by the community’s continued support of its annual Tree of Light project.
