Just In: CemAir grounded indefinitely

Commercial flights cannot be undertaken until further notice.

CemAir has had its wings clipped again by the Civil Aviation Association.

According to a statement posted by CemAir on its Facebook page, its Air Operating Certificate has been suspended ‘indefinitely’.

“This means we cannot conduct commercial flights until further notice,” the statement reads.

CemAir has also said it rejects the reasons offered by the CAA for its decision, saying “We are an airline deeply committed to safety and excellence, and have offered multiple reasonable solutions to the CAA’s stated concerns, all of which have been rejected, an indication of a malicious intent by the CAA to bring CemAir to its knees by grounding it unnecessarily at peak season.”

CemAir has advised customers to book  alternative transport to their destinations, adding it would keep those who had booked tickets with the airline apprised of the refund process in due course

The airline has apologised  for the inconvenience, frustration and  extra costs this may have caused customers.

“We work hard to ensure that our business is part of your great holiday experience, so we can only offer our sincerest apologies for this situation. Please be patient as we work out the best possible solution to honor you as our clients in this situation.”

Comment is  awaited from Ray Nkonyeni Municipality spokesman, Simon April, who has indicated he will respond.
