RNM banks on business agreement

The agreement is set to boost local small businesses with funding, mentorship and access to business markets.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality and Absa Bank Limited recently signed a Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise development agreement at Margate Hotel.

The agreement is set to boost local small businesses with funding, mentorship and access to business markets.

During the meeting, municipal manager Max Mbili said small businesses were often beset with financial troubles making them unable to finish their projects or accept projects from the municipality.

“With the new partnership, not only will businesses which qualify be assisted financially by Absa, they will also be gaining skills and afforded opportunities to be accessed by bigger businesses in the industry.”

The new deal was also welcomed by business forum representatives from the municipality.

RNM mayor Cynthia Mqwebu said small businesses are key to the local economic development programme and will help in the fight against unemployment and with poverty alleviation.
