Giving hope to schoolchildren

The organisation chose Marburg Primary as its beneficiary.

Hope on The Move, a local charity organisation recently held a ‘Back to School’ drive.

The organisation chose Marburg Primary as its beneficiary and donated school uniforms, shoes, backpacks and stationery hampers to 20 pupils.

Chairman of Hope on The Move, Pravashnie Rajagopal said the organisation initially started off as a team of family and friends. “We entered a team into the Cansa Relay For Life in 2014. Since then the organisation has taken part in the event for five consecutive years and has raised the most funds for the relay. We are a dedicated team of people who are passionate about caring for those in need and giving hope to those who have none.”

She said in July 2018, an executive committee was elected and Hope on The Move applied to become a non-profit organisation.

“This year we hosted a fundraising tea to help pay a hospital bill for a cancer patient and provided meals, groceries and nappies to a special needs children’s home. We also again took part in the Cansa Relay For Life and donated Diwali grocery hampers to 20 families in and around Port Shepstone. We thank all our sponsors who assisted us this year and look forward to giving love, hope and making more dreams come true in 2019.”
