REMINDER: Take note of this planned water supply shutdown

Full supply restoration is expected 24 hours post shutdown for high lying areas.

The Umtamvuna water treatment works/raw water abstraction pump station will be shut down on February 5 and 6 for preventative maintenance work at the raw water abstraction pump station to replace one of the high lift pumps for an overhaul.

The water is expected to be off for a period of 30 hours, from 6am on February 5 to noon on February 6. The following areas will be affected:

  • Coastal areas from Southbroom to Port Edward
  • The inland areas of kwaNzimakwe, Ezinqoleni, kwaXolo, Gcilima,Thelawayeka, Mvuntshini, Shobamdlanzi, Mbecuka, Florida, Nodalane, Shobeni and Mlozane.

Customers are urged to store enough water and use this very sparingly as full supply restoration is expected 24 hours post shutdown for high lying areas. Based on the demand, some reservoir outlets will be closed to maintain storage and enable quicker restoration.

Please note that relief supply where required will be prioritised to health facilities due to the limitation of water tankers.
