Phelophepa Healthcare Train steams into town

Your primary healthcare clinic on wheels.

The Transnet Phelophepa Healthcare Train is in Port Shepstone from February 4 to 8, and again from the 11th to the 15th, from 7.30am.

The Phelophepa Train consists of six onboard operational clinics: The Health Clinic, The Roche Pharmacy Clinic, The Educational Clinic, The Dental Clinic, The Eye Clinic and the Psychology Clinic.

This unique train provides a comprehensive, flexible and cost-effective health care service; whilst supporting, empowering, developing and educating students and communities.

* Health education is free.

* Cancer and diabetes screening, pap smears, prostate and breast screening is free, medicine is R5 per prescription.

* Eye clinic tests are free; all glasses are R30 and eye drops are R5.

* Counselling and psychology, which include stress, abuse, conflict, death, parenting or discipline to name but a few, is free.

* Dental clinic; screening and education is free. Extractions, fillings and cleanings are available; two procedures are R10 and three procedures are R15. All procedures for children are R5. Patients are asked to arrive early, before 6am.

Remember to bring your clinic card and immunisation cards for children.

Those on chronic medication are requested to bring lunch and bring their medication with them.
