He is accused of murdering his brother Jeffery Julyan (34), Jeffery’s son Ethan Julyan (9), Jeffery’s step-daughter Kayla McKenna (16) and Peter McKenna (73), Jeffery’s farther-in-law in Mtwalume in December 2017.

Julyan has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

It is alleged that on the day of the murders arrangements had been made by Jeffery to return certain furniture items from Port Shepstone to a family owned home in Mtwalume after his brother had demanded them back.

According to the indictment, the brothers both conveyed the items back to the house, assisted by the two children and their grandfather.

It is believed that after the killings, he doused the house with petrol and caused a fire which caused the bodies to be charred.
