Lighthouse Community Services aims to improve the lives of senior citizens

Having an open dialogue with seniors in the community makes it easier to deal with issues as they arise.

Senior citizens are the pillars of our community as they impart wisdom and valuable life skills which are to our benefit. It’s important to acknowledge our senior citizens and the contribution that they make to our society. Bearing this in mind Lighthouse Community Services hosted a special Valentine’s senior citizens meeting at the Port Shepstone Rehab Centre hall last Saturday.

Plenty of fun, games, a tasty lunch and good music, courtesy of local musician Christopher Pillay, were enjoyed by all.

Chairman Sunil Singh said that his team are proud to be playing a leading role in implementing integrated services for the care, support and protection of older persons. “We want to ensure the well-being of everyone, including older people. One of the best ways to ensure that you’re properly taking care of your senior community members is to communicate with them,” he said.

He added that by having an open dialogue with seniors in the community makes it easier to deal with issues as they arise. “This will make it easier for suggestions to be made, which can lead to the improvement of the community as a whole.”
