A section of Umzinto was plunged into darkness last Thursday, April 4 when Eskom unexpectedly shut off power for two hours.
It was later revealed that the outage was deliberately instituted to allow police and Eskom officials to remove the body of a man from a pole at the Eskom power station in Court Road.
“Inside the power station, a 36-year-old man was found electrocuted and burnt,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.
Constables Brian Shinga and Manqoba Mwelase of Umzinto Saps responded. “A spanner and loose bolts were found at the scene,” said Capt Francis.
