Members of the Public Order Policing were dispatched to monitor the protest.

Protesters gathered on the Dududu Road near Amazulu Store in KwaCele last Friday, May 3.

Scottburgh Saps members responded, and found that the protestors had already blocked the road with trees, rocks and burning logs.

“The group of approximately 150 people confronted the police officers, saying they were protesting against poor service delivery as well as the lack of housing and the poor condition of the roads in their area,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.
