The pair are no strangers to the municipality and its operations as they have served in various departments for many years.

According to Ugu, her new role includes ensuring economic growth in the district as well as implementing services that adhere to the core mandate of the office.

Mr Mbewu, who has been with Ugu for eight years, has taken over as the new water services general manager.

Noloyiso Walingo is the new Ugu economic development and environmental services manager.

Spokesman France Zama said Mr Mbewu’s responsibilities includes ensuring that Ugu, as a water services authority, efficiently and effectively provides this basic right to all four local municipalities under the jurisdiction of Ugu District.

Both will be employed on a five-year contract.

“The appointments were made according to their qualifications, competencies and wealth of experience in their respective fields of work,” said Mr Zama.

Ugu council wished both managers well in their new roles.
