A man suspected of being involved in the March murder of Ifafa resident, 70-year-old Mark Blaine, was reportedly shot and killed by police in the Hibberdene area earlier today.
The suspect was on the run after escaping from the GJ Crookes Hospital in Scottburgh after his arrest shortly after the murder.
Unconfirmed information received suggests that the suspect had become involved in an altercation with police during which he allegedly said he would not be taken willingly.

Mr Blaine, a well known Ifafa resident was murdered in his rented farm cottage on March 8.
His body was discovered by his landlord. Mr Blaine was found lying face down, hands tied behind his back, on the kitchen floor.
The house had been ransacked and a cell phone, pellet gun, computer screen and keyboard were missing.

Mr Blaine was murdered a day before his 71st birthday.
Official police confirmation and comment is awaited.
