A man had R2 500 withdrawn from his bank account after losing his bank card.

A Craigieburn man (37) had R2 500 withdrawn from his bank account after losing his bank card.

At about 9am on June 2, he noticed a message on his phone stating that R1500 had been withdrawn from his account, followed by a notification that another R1000 had been withdrawn.

He went to the bank to query these transactions.

“When he got to the bank, he realised his bank card was missing,” said Umkomaas Saps communications officer, Captain Ismail Shaik.

Investigations revealed that the transactions had been made in Amanzimtoti.

Captain Shaik urges the public to take all necessary security precautions to protect their pin numbers and bank cards to prevent such fraud.
