Fresh protests block roads near Umzinto

No incidents were reported.

REPORTS of violent protest action hit social media early on Monday morning this week as scores of protesters took to the R612 near Umzinto.

“About 100 people blocked the road with logs and burning tyres, complaining about service delivery. Later in the day, a crowd of about 150 moved  towards the N2 freeway before changing direction and heading back towards Malangeni,” said provincial Saps communications officer, Colonel Thembeka Mbele. It is reported that another group of people from the Mthebeni area marched to the Umdoni municipal offices, escorted by police.

No incidents were reported.
