Tweni Talk: Marius pops the question on bended knee

This is the second engagement to have taken place at the whale deck.

THERE was much excitement on Umtentweni Whale Deck last Saturday when Marius Barnard got down on bended knee and asked long-time sweetheart Sheree Holl to marry him. This is the second engagement that has taken place at the whale deck (that your scribe is aware of) and it probably won’t be the last at this lovely spot. Thanks to Alex Skene and his team at Umtentweni Conservancy for all the effort put into making this such a popular site.

Diane Visser officiated at the wedding of Cameron McBean and Kerry Lang at The Farm (Van Tichelen’s Park) in Southport last Saturday. The venue was beautifully decorated and the set-up was amazing. Kerry and Cameron will settle on the South Coast.

Out and about

The Solomon family went to Lake Eland to experience the scooter rides and everyone had lots of fun. Young Riley Solomon earned some ‘roasties’ which will leave some awesome scars, but at the moment everything is hurting.

Doug Maritz is away visiting friends in Johannesburg and aside from the cold weather, he is having a wonderful time.

Riley Solomon earned himself some impressive ‘roasties’ while trying out the scooters at Lake Eland last week.

Derick Cilliers of Umtentweni Bowling Club reports that last weekend’s fun bowls and potjie was a great success. A very big thanks to Louis and Jean Marx, who not only donated the ingredients, but also did the cooking.

There was a fun dominoes evening last Wednesday evening, also catered by Louis and Jean. The winner was Johnny Meyer, followed by Dennis Graham. The next social will be a quiz evening on Wednesday, July 31, at 5.30 for 6pm.

Take precautions

There has been a fair amount of movement by brazen criminals recently and they are targeting residences at various times of the day and night. Please set beams and alarms and remember to report anything suspicious. Be the eyes and ears for those departments which cannot be everywhere. Important numbers to remember are Law Enforcement at 039 6825555 and SAPS at 10111. Make sure to ask for the OB number as a reference.

Happy birthday to Kelvin Hulley (10th), Anton Nel, Cynthia Cole and Gwen Ross (11th), Justine Crouse (12th), Bas Heilbron (14th), Neil Thomas, Matt Defilippi, Christopher van der Wath and Naazima Khatib on July 16.

All news to Leila.
