Large haul of dagga seized on N2 freeway

The estimated value of the dagga is around R94 800.

Two men were arrested for possession of a large quantity of dagga by police on the Sipofu off-ramp near Hibberdene last Monday.

In an intelligence-driven operation by officers from the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Port Shepstone, Saps Port Shepstone K9 and a private security company ten bags of dagga, with an estimated value of R94 800, were found carefully concealed under the chassis of the vehicle.

Police spokesman, Sergeant Sibu Ncane said the vehicle, a bakkie, was en-route from the Eastern Cape.

“Two men aged 44 and 33 years were arrested and charged and appeared in the Umzumbe Magistrates Court last Tuesday. The case was postponed for further investigation and bail application,” said Sgt Ncane.
